Interested Artists!

This is NOT an artist sign-up. That post will take place later, when we have some stories for the artists to work with. This is to get an idea of how many artists might be interested in taking part.

If you do fanart and think you might like to take part, please comment to this post. Feel free to share a little about what sort of art you do. This is not a commitment to take part, it's just to get a general idea.

Also, if you are not an artist, but know some who are, please feel free to send them a link to this post, so we can get the word out!

Uhm, what kind of art are we talking about? *unsure* Painting? If that's the case, I'll be of no use here. I am sooooo not talented for drawing, three-year-old kid can probably do better than me. *lol*
But if banners are acceptable, you know who to ask... :)

Banners, photomanips, or other computer art is perfectly acceptable. While we do expect to get some artists who do traditional painting or drawing, that's not all we will accept!

I can do digital art and photo-manipulations. Well, I can do traditional also, but haven't in a long time and I think I'd do better with computer art. You can see samples of my stuff at my websites: http://delroz.bravepages.com/elves/dreamflower.html I also do graphics and stuff as well.

I would be interested in creating art. I make photo-manips using screenshots from the LOTR films. I can create scenes that don't exist (see icon) but I don't graft character's heads onto other people's bodies.

I am considering participating as an artist myself-- while I do some drawing and painting, it tends to be more decorative in nature. I don't do "people drawings" often, but hope to get a bit more skilled in that area.

My primary art is calligraphy and I do a number of crafts, so if a writer wanted a picture of an "artifact" or an "original document", I could probably oblige them.

I'm definitely interested, as you already know. I mainly do digital art of people and scenes with a nice background. I like drawing hobbits but I'm not against drawing other races, as well, since they all have fascinating looks to them. I've been pushing myself to draw harder, more detailed scenes, and I think I've gotten a lot better in the last year. You can see my gallery by clicking here.

I'm about to go make a post in my group advertising this event, and I just thought of something: what if there are people that are interested, but don't have livejournal accounts? Should I tell them to just make ones for the event or would it be possible for artists and authors to collaborate through email or some other medium?

It would, of course, be very useful if they had their own LJ accounts (that will be a requirement for the authors, who will have to post their stories) and could be members of the community, so that they will be kept up to date on things. So I'd definitely encourage them to do so. A free account and friend the comm would be all they'd need to do.

But if you are willing to pass on any information and announcements to people and help to make sure that they are informed, we may be able to work around it if they do not wish to have an LJ account. I know that it is probably going to be harder to get artists than writers, so we can make that accommodation if necessary.

I know that I discussed this with you earlier, because I am not a "traditional" artist, but work in metals and enamels. I think that I'll have the time to take this on, although I'll know much better what my schedule looks like by the time you have opened up signups. As for LJ accounts, I would find that to be much easier, with a central area for posting and for messages to be sent.

Oh, that is some a-MAZ-ing work! Indeed, I am quite sure your work will be wonderful for some lucky author!

I think photos of "artifacts" would be a wonderful way to grace a story, and you could also use photos of similar type work as illustrations-- the front of that beautiful jewelry box could easily be used as an illustration of that passage from the Silm!

I would like to be an artist for this, but I can only really do computery stuff. Banners, that sort of thing. Also I do a lot of photography, so if someone would like a photograph of a setting I could probably take one (I tend to go out and do a days shooting when I can, to get maybe 5 good photos. Also can do photos of bows + arrows...

I can do photomanipulations - see my DeviantArt Gallery. These are done with stock and resources available on DA due to that site's copyright restrictions, but I can and have in the past worked with screencaps and pictures of actresses/actors.

I'd love to take part in the future :) I tend to change styles depending on whats suited to the story, but I do have a general overall 'style' of exaggerating expressions and focusing on body language (a little cartoony and emotional). Since this is a middle-earth setting, I'd probably add illumination/borders and give it a 'historical' touch, adding in bits of visual culture from saxon/medieval English art :)

You can see my art here, my work is very stylised, so I'm sure you'd have to see my art before pairing up with a writer, since my work isnt to everyone's taste!!

Hi, I'm here via Middle-Earth News. I haven't been involved in this fandom in a *long* time, but this sounds like something I'd be interested in. Unfortunately, I am not tech savvy at all, and my skill set is pretty much straight up, old-school, drawing and painting, so I'm not sure if I'm qualified for this.

Not a traditional artist but I can do photography (live on edges of Yorkshire Dales), and to a level computer work - banners, icons, wallpapers mainly. Also have done calligraphy in the past, and still do cross stitch. Was considering signing up as author but decided schedule will not allow that, but should allow artist work.

Art of every kind will be welcome! I'm a calligrapher myself, and I think that would be great (especially if an author wanted an illustration of a "document") and I love the idea of including photos of needlework as well!

I could do artwork. I mainly do photography (landscapes, trees, sky and clouds, structures), and 3D-art - again, landscapes, nature, (abstract work as well) but can include people and objects; I mainly use Vue and Poser, so work with pre-existing models and textures. I can't currently point people to my gallery, as I'm in the middle of redesigning my site (but using the tags in my LJ will at least show some of my stuff).

(Edit) And before I forget, I do also work with fonts and such (including Tengwar and runes).
